Why I Wrote Forged in Fire
By Robbie South · June 16, 2026

I didn't write Forged in Fire because I'd figured it out. I wrote it because, after two decades on the fireground, I'd lived through enough to see a pattern — and seen enough good leaders mishandle pressure to feel the book was worth writing.
Who it's for
It's for the firefighter who just made captain and is trying to figure out what changed. It's for the founder whose company suddenly has thirty employees instead of three. It's for the parent learning that authority and love are not opposites.
What it isn't
It isn't a theory book. It isn't a sermon. It isn't a manifesto about pressure being a gift — pressure can also break you.
It is a field guide for becoming the kind of leader others can believe in — written by someone still learning to be one.
